Research and Development (R&D)

R&D supports time bound and mission oriented Research & Development programmes to achieve world class, reliable and cost effective technology in wind power systems. RDAF supports the industry to analyse the big data obtained from wind and solar resource measurements

Certification & Information Technology

The Division carries out Type certification of wind turbines based on IS/IEC 61400-22, And also involved in creating the necessary IT infrastructure for effective dissemination of information.

Standards and Regulation (S&R)

The Division provides various services for the healthy and orderly growth of Wind Energy Sector such as: Standardization works in Wind Energy Sector, Facilitation for Grid Synchronization of Prototype of wind turbines and provides the technical support to MNRE for the implementation of Revised List of Models and Manufacturers of wind turbines (RLMM).

Wind Resource Assessment

The Division identifies resource rich regions in the country by conducting wind resource micro survey and offers its services to the wind farm developers. To prepare wind map for the nation, it is assessing and analyzing wind resources.

Offshore Wind Development

As per the National Offshore Wind Energy Policy 2015, National Institute of Wind Energy is the nodal agency for offshore wind energy development in the country. NIWE is responsible for demarcation of offshore wind blocks based on offshore studies and surveys. NIWE also facilitates obtaining clearances from the Ministries/ departments for the development of offshore wind energy blocks.
